Chapter NYC: Mozart’s The Magic Flute

Chapter NYC met at the Metropolitan Opera, Lincoln Center, New York City on Friday, December 15, to attend the current production of Mozart's The Magic Flute. The attendees were a small and merry group consisting of Mike Dressel, Daniel and Claudia Boehnk, Emily Vieyra-Haley and Catherine Vieyra.

We all met before the show at the nearby Empire Hotel for pre-show drinks at the rooftop bar.

We thoroughly enjoyed the opera!  It must be noted that this production of The Magic  Flute is visually stunning as it is directed by Julie Taymor.  It is also intended to be "family friendly" as it is sung in English, and it is abbreviated - a wonderful introduction to this opera.  It was very festive and "Weihnachtlich."

We are all very grateful to Mike Dressel for facilitating the tickets; he is currently employed at the Met!    Vielen Dank, Mike!

We hope to plan another opera event next year some time; perhaps in the Spring.
