The Center for Inter-American Studies cordially invites all members of the JDEAS Chapter to a Guest Lecture by Professor Michelle Gadpaille (Maribor) on “Voice and Chorus: The Poisoned Talk of the Black Americas”.
Michelle Gadpaille, born and raised in Jamaica, is a Professor of English and American Studies at the University of Maribor. She has received degrees in English from Yale and the University of Toronto, where she was also an assistant to Northrop Frye. She has published widely and given presentations on a great range of topics, especially on Canadian literature (The Canadian Short-Story [1988], As She Should Be: Codes of Conduct in Early Canadian Women’s Writing [2010], Alice Munro, Michael Ondaatje, and others), but also on onomastics, or the teaching of literature, for example, and many further subjects. She is also the (co)editor of Words and Music (2013).
