Markus Hochegger-Krawanja
Alumni in Portrait February 2024
Surfactants are used everywhere: In toothpaste, skin creams and millions of other products. However, of the more than 17 million tons produced worldwide, less than five percent are completely bio-based and the majority of bio-based surfactants are obtained from palm oil and coconut oil. Markus Hochegger-Krawanja has dedicated himself to the climate-friendly and Eurocentric production of surfactants as part of a research project. In the current alumni portrait, the chemist provides more information about his project and a related company spin-off.
