Digital Humanities: Digitization of cultural heritage and what can be made of it
Our living environment is becoming increasingly digitalised. Literature, art, music or archaeological finds are also increasingly experienced in the digital space. The Digital Humanities (DH) are concerned with accompanying this change. How can we ensure that cultural heritage objects are properly contextualised? How do we turn handwritten texts into proper digital texts?
But the DH are also concerned with what can be done with digital forms of cultural heritage: How do you use them in social media? Is it possible to count the content, stylistic or narrative properties of texts? You can find examples of answers on our website or on the GAMS platform.
Impulse lecture followed by a Q&A session
Univ.-Prof. Dr. Ulla Kriebernegg, Professor for Cultural Studies of Aging and Care Research
"Society of long life? - Chances, possibilities, challenges
This lecture deals with the diversity of social images of aging and how these affect the possibilities of fair social participation in society. How do literature, film and media influence our ideas about the “good life” in old age? What fears and crisis discourses are revealed in it? What conditions can we derive from a cultural-scientific analysis of discourses on aging in order to be able to age well in a "society of longevity"?

Ecumenism in Canon Law
Whereas before the Second Vatican Council the Catholic Church was still of the opinion that all Christians who did not belong to it were gravely mistaken, and punished them accordingly, the Council brought about a radical change: the ecumenical mandate! The aim is to restore the unity of Christians. The mandate was incorporated into the legislation of the Church and was further concretized later on. The lecture will present how canon law has implemented the Council's mandate, and what challenges it poses both for the leadership of the Church and for the faithful.

Right to repair and circular economy
Repair of consumer goods is the central strategy to extend the lifetime of these products and a related reduction of resource consumption. Repair is therefore an integral part of the circular economy. This presentation will consider both supply-side and demand-side aspects that can contribute to strengthening the repair sector. These issues are framed in terms of the right to repair, or more generally infrastructural measures taken by the state. Extensive results on consumer behavior regarding repair will be presented, processes and strategies of repair service providers will be discussed and the influence of control measures, such as repair subsidies, will be shown.

Climate crisis: What can I do?
The climate crisis is a global problem that can only be tackled globally. But that doesn't mean that we as individuals can't contribute. We explore how citizens can actively participate in the green energy transition and explain why it is worthwhile to start changing your own behaviour.

Flying in times of climate change: Possible future perspectives for private, business and university air travel
What factors influence air travel behavior in the private, corporate and scientific sectors? Where does the so-called carbon lock-in in air travel come from and what could possible solutions look like in terms of climate protection? The lecture will give an overview of current research results from the TRANSFLIGHT project, in which we use quantitative and qualitative methods to investigate these and other questions about the future of air travel.
